This is the book that I bought in the SLC airport on our way home, and I hate to say this but it took me quite a while to read it. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a good book! I have just been busy and unmotivated of late 😮💨 I finished it last night while my boyfriend was making dinner (he loves cooking and honestly, you all should be jealous that you don’t get to eat his food every day🤷🏼♀️). I also want to note that I’m going to try to write about this book (and all the books I write about on here) without giving away too much of the book in case you decide you want to read it. I think everyone has a different opinion about what “spoilers” are, so let me just say:
***WARNING!!!!! THERE MIGHT BE SPOILERS!*** Don’t say you weren’t warned.
In the book, Maya is forced to spend a week in Italy with her crush, who is also her older brothers best friend, for her brothers wedding. I love the way the author describes all the landscapes around the characters, but more importantly, love the characters themselves. Conor, the man in question, comes off with a tough-guy exterior, but through Maya’s perspective, is someone who is caring but unsure of how to do so respectfully. He probably has the most character growth in the book, and I loved every second of it. He might actually be my favorite character.
“Problematic Summer Romance” does have a slower start to it (maybe why it took me so long to read?), but it’s worth sticking it out. Even though it ends like most typical romance novels, for some reason I just love that. Couldn’t tell you why, but that seems to be most of what I read. But after reading this, I will definitely be adding more Ali Hazelwood books to my To-Read list!
